Male Domestic Abuse on the rise in the UK.

Domestic abuse is often perceived to be a man abusing a woman. However, domestic abuse towards men by women is very much a real issue with many victims suffering in silence at the hands of their abuser for the fear of being mocked or not being believed. 


According to recent figures by the domestic abuse charity Mankind, one in three victims of domestic abuse in the UK are men and male domestic abuse is a growing issue in the country. And to tackle this, a new service has been launched in Bradford specifically targeting South Asian male domestic abuse victims. BBC’s South Asia Diaspora Reporter Gaggan Sabherwal reports.....

International students relying on food banks and charities during corona virus pandemic and lockdown (English Report).

Thousands of international students in the UK are turning to food banks and other local charities for food handouts and essentials due to the corona virus pandemic and lockdown.


Many of these students have come from countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh to the UK to gain world class British education and have paid thousands of pounds towards their tuition fees. But today they find themselves queuing for food and relying on strangers for help and support.


BBC’s South Asia Diaspora Reporter Gaggan Sabherwal has been speaking to those affected and sends us this report.

Recently we reported about how a food bank in London was feeding thousands of international students a week after most of them were forced to lose their part time jobs due to the corona virus pandemic and lockdown. 


We have now been told that these students are being threatened by their universities to either pay their outstanding fees or they may be removed from their course. BBC’s South Asia Diaspora Reporter Gaggan Sabherwal spoke to a few of these students to find out more.....
