About Gaggan

Gaggan Sabherwal is an award-winning investigative journalist and reporter  working for the BBC in London. She is a polyglot who speaks 5 languages - English, Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi and Urdu. Gaggan loves to explore new places meet new people and try out new cuisines.

Since July 2018, Gaggan has been working as BBC World Service and BBC World's South Asia Diaspora Reporter in London covering India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Prior to this, she worked with BBC Yorkshire in Leeds as their Communities Reporter and Investigative Journalist and Producer.


In 2017, Gaggan won the News Reporter of the Year award at the O2 Media Awards. Besides this, she was also awarded the runners up prize in the Television Journalist and Community Journalism categories at the same awards night. Gaggan was also one of the finalists in the Media category at the 2018 Asian Women of Achievement Awards. In 2019 she was one of the finalists in the Media category at the Asian Media Awards.


Gaggan's original and hard hitting reports have been featured across domestic and international TV, radio and digital platforms. In her six years at the BBC, she has worked with a number of teams as a researcher, producer and reporter covering a number of events including Brexit, General Elections 2019 and the recent Corona Virus crisis.

Gaggan has also worked as a freelance investigative journalist for a number of UK Television stations and independent production companies such as Channel 4, ITV, Hardcash Productions, ITN Studios etc. She has also worked as a Broadcast Journalist at ITV Meridian in Hampshire as well as Channel 4 News and Good morning Britain in London.
